Table 1: List of Chop Chop Stocks

No. of stocks by Exchange: Indonesia (IDX): 3; Hong Kong (SEHK): 3, Malaysia (KLSE): 2

The filters and explanation for use of each filter:

Yes, we want chop-chop stocks but we don't want dangerous chop-chop stocks. So our filters capture momentum but also capture quality.

  1. 6-month return >25%, 3-month>25%, 1-week % return>0%. These three metrics ensure that momentum is more than a flash in the pan.

  2. PEG (Price/Earnings-to-Growth) Ratio: Enhances the Price/Earnings Ratio by including the growth aspect. The lower the PEG ratio, the more the stock may be undervalued given its future earnings expectations. PEG<1 is desirable.

  3. Piotroski Score ( 0 to 9:) A good all-round measure of the quality of a company's financials. Includes measures of profitability, leverage, liquidity, operational efficiency. A good Piotroski Score should be at least 7.

  4. Trading Volume: Momentum should be supported by liquidity to be sustainable. This metric is the trading volume of the selected stocks on 06 Jan 2025.
